On Mission: Invite Him Along
I hope that Isaiah 30:15 challenges you as much as it has challenged me this week.
Verse of the week:
“This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: ‘In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.’” — Isaiah 30:15 (NIV)
Quick thought:
I don’t know about you, but there are times when I can go a week or more without praying. I get busy with what I have going on--the hustle and bussle of everyday life and don't invite God into it. In fact, I don't even talk to Him about it. I heard this verse yesterday, and it really convicted me. It reminds me that real strength isn’t found in myself (how much I get done, or how busy I am, or even how much good I am doing)—it’s found in resting in Him.
Repentance and rest mean admitting that I need Him in all things. It means laying down the idea that I can handle the ins and outs of life without Him. Instead, it's seeking Christ above everything else. That’s where the peace is. That’s where the strength is.
Challenge:
If you’ve made it through the week without thinking about God, just start there. Talk to Him about it. Be honest. Say you’re sorry. Ask Him to help you seek Him again, and invite Him along in your everyday life. Let that moment of returning—of repentance and rest—be where your hope begins. And let the time you spend with Him, and the trust you place in Him, become the source of your strength.
Have a great rest of your week!
